Learn the basics of house dance in a friendly, supportive space that puts the emphasis on freedom of movement and soulful connectivity. This class will cover movement philosophy, conditioning and technique, layering towards looped sequences that build confidence and encourage effortless flow.
Drawing on influences from Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin and Pan African dance styles, House is a community forward fusion dance that evolved in a DIY capacity in tandem with the music genre in the late 80’s. We’ll be exploring fundamental elements of the form including JACKING, FOOTWORK, SHUFFLES and SPINS.
The aim of these sessions is to provide an experience of rhythmic unity and interpersonal exchange whilst increasing movement vocabulary, range and stability. It doesn’t matter where you’re starting from - it’s about connection not perfection! If you love House music and are looking for a midweek opportunity to get loose and get free
