L'étoile studio presents: PRISMA
Rosa Brown, Victoria Pownall and Mir Reina - 3 journeys across memories, dreams, and visions.

Join us at our opening night of our PRISMA exhibition at L’Étoile Studio.

Between the winter months of December 2023 - January 2024, three artists took on a residency at L’Étoile Studio. This exhibition is a display of the work that was conceptualised and created during this time. Three separate projects combined into one exhibition.

Mir Reina
The Daimon's call:
On the occasion of her first exhibition, Mir Reina shows some of her earliest works together with recent painting experimentations. The art residency at L'Étoile Studio has been the occasion to refocus her art practice and explore the meaning and purpose of creating images.

More than in the results, she is interested in exploring how creating images stimulates new thoughts and revives emotions. Her work blends impressions from dreams and memories with visions from meditation and clairvoyance practice.

Mir started drawing to express things she could not put into words, now she continues to do it to transcend the personal into the collective.

Rosa Brown
Intuitive Expressions, A Playful World of Colour:
Rosa will be displaying the work that was completed and created during the artist residency at L’Étoile. A series of conceptual paintings alongside an arrangement of experimental, intuitive drawings. During her time at L’Étoile, Rosa explored automatic and intuitive drawing/writing, using this process as a way of expressing present emotions of her inner landscapes without inhibition.
Finding balance between completion and exploration, Rosa used this time of introspection as a time to enquire and explore a new practice that resonates with her current inspirations.

Victoria Pownall
Along the Blue Line: Language, memory and shared history explored across Sussex’s waterways:
In her debut exhibition, Victoria Pownall explores her connection to the water of her home county through bold colours, illustrative design and hints of personal memory. This collection explores how these bodies of water have also impacted and inspired generations of Sussex-dwellers; through language, nostalgia, folklore and shared memory.

Victoria is a self-taught artist originally from Brighton. She is inspired by colour, travel, language, history, story-telling and the line between memory and imagination. Victoria completed her first residency with L’Étoile Gallery in Bristol from December 2023- January 2024. This collection was dreamt up during this time.
