Threads of Ancestors: Painting with Mineral Pigments and Oak Gall Ink at L'Étoile Studio

A event held at L'Étoile Studio on Friday 24th October. The event starts at 18:00.

Close to the special festival of Samhain, when the veil between the worlds is the thinnest, we will invite into our creative space the spirits of ancestors* (*they could be blood-ancestors, ancestors who lived on this land or mythological ancestors). Gentle grounding and short meditation in the beginning of the session will support you on this unique journey of harnessing your intuition, imagination and creativity.
We are going to use mineral pigments found in nature to enhance the connection with the earth/ancestors. You will have a chance to go through the whole journey of making watercolour paint out of the minerals and chalk coals: grinding it, combining it with a binder made from cherry and plum gum and then painting with it. There will also be a possibility to work with home made oak gall ink.
By the end of the workshop you will have a painting made purely with colors found in nature. This painting could be a reminder/portal to their experience of feeling the connection to the earth as well as the ancestors.
