L'Étoile Studio Presents "Black Paintings: Collage and Mixed Media Works 2020-23" by Ergo Phizmiz

L'Étoile Studio announces its upcoming exhibition, "Black Paintings: Collage and Mixed Media Works 2020-23," by the multifaceted artist Ergo Phizmiz. This magical collection, woven from the intricate threads of digital and analog artistry, will captivate audiences with its fusion of manipulated scans, prints, paintings, embellished with pearls, pens, bones, gold leaf, and a host of icons, figures, and shapes that traverse the rich tapestry of art history.
This exhibition marks the return of Ergo Phizmiz to the art world after over a decade, and it promises to be a captivating exploration of his distinctive approach to cross-media art. The artist's previous exhibitions at esteemed venues such as Riverside Studios, Dartington, Venn Festival, and Depozitory.
Ergo Phizmiz's work transcends conventional boundaries, pushing the envelope of artistic expression. In his own words, "Art is really my only way of relating to the world," and this collection of images serves as a testament to his unwavering passion for creativity. Phizmiz's work is a celebration of the magic inherent in art, and his artistic journey is an unapologetic act of protest against the relegation of art to the periphery of society, striving to bring more beauty into a world that can sometimes seem bereft of it.
Ghosts, both literal and metaphorical, are another recurring theme in this exhibition. Phizmiz's work raises the notion of the "age of ghosts" that we currently live in, where recorded media keeps the past alive. These evocative images invite viewers to contemplate the familiar becoming unfamiliar, the poetic essence of disintegration, and the alchemy of juxtaposition.
The "Black Paintings" exhibition is a testament to the artist's deep connection to the world of art and a captivating exploration of our age of ghosts.
Don't miss the opportunity to experience this "occult eye-candy." Join us for the opening event on November 23, featuring a talk and luxury entertainments. The exhibition runs from November 23 to November 26, providing a limited window to immerse yourself in Ergo Phizmiz's mesmerizing creations.
