A
event
held at L'Étoile Studio
on Sunday 3rd December. The event starts at 10:30.
Candles play an important role, especially as we approach the winter solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year. They serve as a symbol of light and a reminder that it will return the darkest days.
In this workshop, you will enjoy the process of candle-making in preparation for the festivities by exploring different essential oils and fragrances that can be used to make candles. You will be able to pick from a selection of smells to add to your own teacup candle now aware of their symbolism and effects. Whilst we wait for the candles to cure, we will also explore the importance of the candles in the festivals of Lights in December while you create a Yule candle holder decorating it with seasonal greenery.
All levels are welcome, you don't need any experience creating candles for this workshop. We will be explaining the process and helping you step by step. Materials are provided.
By the end of the session, you will be going home with your own homemade Yule Log holder, some tips on how to recycle your favourite old candles to make new candles and wax melts, as well as, an understanding of their importance during this time of the year.
The workshop is held by the candle maker Crafty Ro-Ro and Mireinart (illustrator and folklorist).
It will take place at L'étoile Studio - Art space and gallery.
