An Evening of Spoken Word & Poetry:
JONATHAN EVANS:
My first venture into writing was courtesy of Talking Tales where I presented a story entitled “The Mystery of Ernie Taylor’s Abdomen” in 2017.
I was terrified but managed to survive and the story morphed into a book which was published in 2018. In 2022 I completed a further collection, “ The Rum Jungle Hotel and Other Travel Stories” and his third book “Silo Killer Qu’est ceque c’est?” is due out in September.
As well as prose I occasionally write a bit of poetry!
I am a regular contributor to BBC Radio Bristol’s Upload programme.
In addition to writing my interests include long distance running, draining the European wine Lake and supporting Nottingham Forest.
ASHLEY A. MOUNSEY:
A Bristolian poet new to performance and publication, her work seeks to strike a balance between a materialist disposition and a sensitivity to spiritual constructs; a desire for the radical (though as-yet-nascent) socialist consensus, and for consideration of the tradition of English literature; a trans feminist who values marginalised perspectives, yet holds a deep scepticism towards the incentives that would have us commodify identity. Ashley seeks to synthesise a voice that can resolve these tensions through a contemporary lyrical style of verse.
BARRY HOLLOW:
Barry, originally from Ayrshire, now lives in Bristol. His debut collection, Viaducts & River Views was published by Black Cat Poetry Press. It explores themes of home and belonging.
He has featured and performed regularly on BBC Radio and spoken word showcases across the South West (Lyra Poetry Festival, Ledbury Poetry & Bristol Literature Festival) and has also been published in a variety of anthologies and poetry journals. Barry has recently ventured into Poetry Filmmaking - with screenings at StAnza and ReelPoetry International Poetry Film Festivals. He has also been featured by Spelt Magazine and Bristol Poetry Film Club
