A
event
held at Loco Klub
on Tuesday 19th November. The event starts at 19:00.
After two successful events where we have explored what the main issues around halting harassment, we have identified the following areas are ones that need a framework for all venues, events, and promoters to work from so we can all be working from the same point and the message can be universal throughout the city on what is acceptable, what isn't, and how this should be dealt with.
- Definitions - what are we defining as harassment?
- Process - what should be done when harassment is reported?
- Accountability - how do we make sure everyone's side is taken into account
- Safety - who do we trust to hold the line?
We have put together a document which will be emailed out to everyone who signs up to the event and posted in our discussion group ahead of the meeting.
At the meeting we will be:
- Going through all the definitions
- Going through the process
- Hearing from Judy Bec, Head of Operations at Boomtown Festival to hear what problems they've had and how they've been dealt with
- Discussing any potential issues that could come up with our policy, process, and troubleshooting how to overcome them
By the end of the meeting, we will be asking everyone to go and implement these new policies and processes at their venues/events and keeping a note of what has/hasn't worked over Xmas and New Year (where problems will no doubt arise!)
It is really important that we have as many venues and promoters from around the city in attendance to talk about how we can tackle this as a community to try and make our spaces as safe as possible.
