Healing King Herod at Loco Klub
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"After trying to kill baby Jesus, King Herod’s gone through a bit of a face lift. Well first, he’s a drag king clown now, and he runs a cultish self-help scheme he’s desperately pushing. Through song, audience participation and rousing diatribes, Riss Obolensky guides you through a Fringe-endorsed one-king comedy like no other."

A event held at Loco Klub on Tuesday 24th January. The event starts at 19:30.

King Herod, famed for his Massacre of the Innocents, is now the face of a self-development pyramid scheme. In this chaotic drag-clown fiasco, the audience begin as soldiers in ancient Judea and transform into modern clients in an interactive group therapy session. But who is this process of healing really for? Through improvised songs, TED Talk parodies and rousing political speeches, Herod asks the audience to do one thing and one thing only: connect. Expect frivolity, shock and redemption in a show which asks: Who can we trust? What are eggs? Why are you crying? No negative core belief will be left unscrutinised. Brought to you by Comedy Central-endorsed clown, Riss Obolensky and director Eloïse Poulton. Previous praise: ‘Side-splitting laughs’ ***** (BroadwayBaby.com). ‘Boundless energy’ ***** (LondonTheatre1.com). ‘Raging lesbian’ ***** (DIVA Magazine). ‘That was the weirdest and best thing I’ve ever seen’ (Lost Cabaret Bristol). Join us for our last ever Work-In-Progress showcase before it heads to VAULT Festival and beyond ✨ Please note: this is a TWO NIGHT RUN.
