Stevo the Bass presents the 'Nascent Root, Part-3' release Party. A night of Live-Dub, Horns and Bass.

Bringing the internationally recognised scene leading pioneer, Alpha Stappa, together alongside inter-generational local talents, through one of the UK top soundysystems, within the legendary Malcolm X Centre. Expect a night of serious vibes and bass.

Alpha Steppa:
At the head of the label Steppas Records, is one of the members of the collective «Dub Dynasty», fruit of the collaboration with his father and his aunt (Alpha & Omega). Ben Alpha aka Alpha Steppa grew up surrounded by dubplates in sound system culture. Today a recognized and talented producer, he links the music that marked his childhood to the new generation of Bass Music to which he belongs.

Yaksha & King David Horns:
Found in Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist texts, the name Yaksha references a broad class of nature spirits that are guardians of the natural treasures hidden within the earth and tree roots. One of Yaksha’s main musical inspirations is his father, King David Horns, a respected trombonist who has played alongside many reggae greats. Residing in Bristol, Yaksha started his label ‘Yaksha Sounds’ in 2019 and has since released collaborations with Joe Yorke, Alpha Steppa, Fikir Amlak, Nga Han, Ashanti Selah, Dan I Locks, Alpha & Omega, and Martin Melody; Receiving support from the likes of Aba Shanti, Dennis Bovell, and King Shiloh.

Stevo the Bass:
Stevo the Bass’s music features deep growling bass lines, a rich horn section, a driving wall of percussion, and hypnotic dubs. Live bass is the fundamental element of Stevo's sound. This is transformed in the live arena into the eyeball-shaking sub-frequencies in the Soundsystem session. On record or on stage, Stevo the Bass retains this unique stamp by oscillating between live dub-mixing and instrumentation.

Firmly Rooted Soundsystem:
It only seemed fitting to bring in one of Bristol's leading sound systems Firmly Rooted Soundsystem, a Bristol-based collective dedicated to preserving and evolving the sound system tradition. Having been founded by Jkme Sebastian, over the past decade Firmly Rooted have been at the forefront of delivering heavy-hitting dub, roots, and reggae sessions, creating transformative musical experiences for audiences across the UK and Europe.
