An event on Saturday 24th October. The event starts at 10:00.
Following our Uniting Our Communities Against Racism event, Bristol Community Action is hosting a free beginners' self-defence workshop for women and girls from racialised communities, who may experience or be targeted by racism or religious hate.
The two-hour session will give you practical tools to help you feel safer and more confident. You’ll learn simple self-defence techniques, develop your personal safety and situational awareness, and explore ways to feel more confident.
What to expect
The workshop will cover:
* practical self-defence techniques
* personal safety and situational awareness
* ways to recognise and respond to potentially unsafe situations
* techniques for building confidence and feeling more prepared
You don’t need any previous martial arts or self-defence experience. This beginners' session is designed to be practical and supportive, and you can participate at a level that feels comfortable for you.
Who is this for?
This workshop is specifically for women and girls aged 14+ from racialised communities and the global majority, including people who may be targeted because of their faith, race, ethnicity or religion.
We’re creating this space in recognition of the particular forms of racism, religious hate and harassment that people from our communities can experience.
