on Sunday 2nd September. The event starts at 20:00.
St Werburghs Community Centre proudly present its third'Mini-Festival' Picnic in the Park, to take place at Mina Road Park, St Werburghs, Bristol on Sunday, 2nd September 2012 between 12 and 4pm.
Picnic in the Park is going to be a community-led, fun-filled, family-friendly extravaganza designed specifically to cater for every age and taste, aiming at gathering the whole community together. Last year was blessed with fantastic weather and over 1000 people attended the event.
Picnic in the Park has a much smaller budget this year, like many things affected by recession, however, with a bit of enthusiasm and community spirit, the event will definitely not be compromised in lack of activities.
Tutors from St Werburghs Community Centre will be hosting keep-fit and healthy living workshops, including a fantastic Zumba workout with Nectaria Pospori, Yoga with Sue Peggs and Tai Chi with Dennison Joseph. There will also be a break dancing tournament and hula hooping activities.
Successful Bristol street artist Silent Hobo will be running a graffiti workshop, and Arts West Side, a new community arts centre, will be teaching people how to make dream catchers. St Werburghs Arts Trail will also be running children's activities, including toy boat making with a race along the river, and there will also be a bouncy castle for the kids.
There will also be many local acts performing including storyteller Martin Maudsley, comedian Tom Can't Sing, and live music from singer-songwriters Evie Smith, Jules Way, Elliot Hall and Ian Perry and Carrie Hitchcock. Red Notes choir will also be performing.
This year there is a new addition to the event, 'Jumble Island'. If you would like to run a stall selling car-boot items, please contact heather@http://www.stwerburghs.org.uk
Make Your Home Eco will be putting on a series of educational workshops and games, and there will also be massage workshops.
This year there will be a raffle, and some of the prizes include, a ticket to Longleat, cinema tickets to the Watershed, bowling tickets and much more.
The event has been supported by Bristol City Council, St Werburghs City Farm, Mina Road Park Group, My Neighbourhood and St Werburghs Neighbourhood Association.
We are eager to find volunteers to help us with various elements of the day, so if you would find this interesting, please get in touch. If you have any other questions, please contact Goska Ong, Centre Manager on 0117 955 1351 or e-mail office@http://www.stwerburghs.org.uk
