Over the years Scruff has built up a strong connection with the Bristol crowd. Maybe that’s something to do with his selections – early doors you’re likely to hear him spinning plenty of dub, reggae and trip hop tones that vibrate in perfect harmony with the West Country tradition. With the full stretch of the night he’s got plenty of scope to indulge his mammoth knowledge of funk, soul, disco, house music, and it’s not uncommon to hear the DJs DJ crank up the levels to some sharply selected D&B and jungle. What makes a Mr Scruff set special is the pacing though, knowing just how to manage the energy levels in the room to keep the vibe right from start to finish, even if that means taking a tempo u-turn when you least expect it. That’s why he’s one of the best in the business, and we can’t wait to have him back.
