Bristol Gets Ready to Play with Musicroom!
Musicroom Bristol is gearing up for a day of musical play by hosting a series of free'taster' lessons as part of this year's national Learn to Play Day on Saturday 16th March 2013.
The UK's largest music retailer, Musicroom, is calling on Bristol's budding musicians to try their hand at playing a musical instrument with the help of the store staff and teachers, in association with the Yourock Academy.
The musically-packed day will involve lessons on a range of different instruments, with the store inviting five local teachers to host a variety of workshops. Lessons will focus on the guitar, bass, piano, saxophone and ukulele in a bid to teach children and adults the benefits of playing a musical instrument.
Behind the initiative is the charity Music for All, working in partnership with the Arts Council England's'Take it away' scheme, which aims to provide more opportunities for musical experiences. A recent survey carried out by the scheme, in conjunction with parenting site Netmums, found that almost three-quarters of parents believe taster lessons are a great way to introduce a child to instruments.
Last year's Learn to Play Day saw approximately 20 lessons take place at Musicroom Bristol, along with plenty of involvement at each of the lessons throughout the day, giving local people the opportunity to learn something new.
Musicroom Bristol will be offering a 10% store discount on the day to everyone who participates in a lesson. There will also be prize draws to enter and vouchers up for grabs, as well as refreshments being served in store.
Musicroom Bristol Store Manager, Andi Howlett, said: 'We are really looking forward to being a part of this year's national Learn to Play Day, following the success of last year's store event. There is so much to see and do in store, and it will give people the chance to get a taste of the instruments they have always wanted to play.
