Soma Soma are an 8-piece band performing their unique style of Afro-brazilian music. Based
in Bristol, UK, Soma Soma are made up of Brazilian and British musicians and sing in Brazilian Portuguese. The vocal performances are powerful and emotive, conveying the passion of the music even for those who don’t understand the language.
Driving percussion, vintage horns, and hypnotic guitar lines blend Brazilian styles such as the rhythmic drive of Samba, the smooth melodies of Bossa Nova, and the soulful sway of Arrocha with the vibrant energy of African Highlife, the groove of Afrobeat, and the infectious danceability of Soukous. They take an unorthodox approach to song writing which takes listeners on an emotional journey, swaying and listening intently to deep psychedelic soundscapes and dancing ecstatically to authentic Samba.
Their third album ‘Nem Toda Flor Floresce O Ano Todo’ is set for release late Autumn 2025,
and they are wasting no time with the development of their fourth album.
