The Allergies & DJ Format at The Old Market Assembly
See event details

A gig held at The Old Market Assembly on Friday 31st October. The event starts at 21:30.

The duo of DJ Moneyshot and Rackabeat have been delighting dancefloors and lighting up radio airwaves since forming The Allergies and releasing their debut album in 2016.

Year in, year out, they’ve sharpened their skills on the turntables and in the studio, dropping one dynamite record after another. Clocking up Album of the Day awards, national ad campaign spots, and BBC Radio 6 Music A-list status, the pair show no signs of stopping the fun.

After consecutive Top 40 albums, the boys have just dropped number seven, FREAK THE SPEAKER—another stellar showcase of their feel-good funk, soul-sampling savvy, and party-starting hip-hop.

This year they’ll be taking to stages, tents, fields, and cities with their full-band live show in support of the new album. But if you want to catch them in their element, check out Moneyshot and Rackabeat cutting up the wax as they take their DJ show to clubs and festivals far and wide.

From Space Ibiza to Glastonbury Festival, they’ve rocked stages across the globe. So, if you’re into crazy turntable skills, hands-in-the-air beats, and classy, crowd-rocking music, then an Allergies double-decking DJ set is exactly what you need.

DJ Format

The title of his 2003 debut album says it all: Music For The Mature B-Boy. That’s DJ Format in a nutshell — a grown-up producer and beatmaker who (by his own admission) spends far too long digging for bafflingly scarce records to sample and spin in clubs.

His six artist albums — featuring rap heavyweights like Jurassic 5, Edan, Mr. Lif, Phill Most Chill, and long-time collaborator Abdominal — are considered some of the high points in UK hip hop.

Beyond his own music, DJ Format is also renowned for his expertly curated compilations and mixtapes, earning the respect of institutions like FabricLive, Fania, BBE, and Mr Bongo, who have all called on him to bring his unique selections of funk, Latin soul, heavy psych, and Brazilian Tropicalia to the table.

Entry requirements: 18+
