Hey all. Big thanks to all the wrigglers who made it to the first Bongo Boogie!
We had a total blast dancing with you at the Old Market Assembly which is the perfect space for a no hassle funky dancing session!
The first one was a taste of what’s to come, we really enjoyed the new surrounds, so for those of you looking for the best selectors playing a wide range of jazzy, funky, groove-soaked global sounds to shake your rumps to or to just let off some steam... we got ya!
The next session will see the return of Jackson alongside Jake Worm back from Brazil.
As well as the two resident worms we also like to invite a unique special guest along.
This time we have invited DJ Amazon to come west from London. Laura aka Amazon is a key member of the wonderful ‘Eve’s Drop Collective’ and is a DJ of considerable experience. Utilising her deep understanding and musical knowledge, DJ Amazon has been delighting audiences with her eclectic, soulful, bass-heavy mixes in clubs and on the airwaves for over three decades!
In a soundscape built on foundations of Jazz, Funk, Latin, Soul and Disco, listeners might also encounter Broken Beats, House, Hip-hop or some of the many dancefloor rarities contained within her vinyl vaults.
Having played or held down residencies at events and clubs such as: Spread Love, Poetic funk, Plastic People, Brixton Lanes, Bruk-Up B’Ham, Girlz Be Loose and regualryl rolling through the BBE store to play, we caught Amazon playing truly sublime sets at last years We Out Here festival so thought we’d invite her along.
So yeah, alongside DJ Amazon, expect Jackson and Jake worm playing sets on vinyl selecting worldwide cuts from their deep, varied and groove-heavy record bags. Also expect added treatment such as decor, visuals and general worminess to make the venue sound and look ace, alongside top drinks/cocktails and friendly staff… All the ingredients needed for a quality night out!
