A clubnight held at The Old Market Assembly on Saturday 18th May. The event starts at 22:00.

Yes yes! Worms, wrigglers, dancers, music lovers and people in need of a good night out, we invite you along to our third ‘Bongo Boogie’ session at The Old Market Assembly for another night of percussive, bongo-tastic global grooves, Latin and jazz sounds!

After welcoming Dee’ Cleo and DJ Amazon so far, this time alongside the resident worm DJs, we have invited a true DJ legend along: Mr Paul Murphy.

Paul Murphy has been a record collector and DJ since the late 1970’s and is the possessor of the most incredible records you might hear all year! A very young Gilles Peterson was inspired by witnessing Paul Murphy select and play his choice of ‘Jazz-Dance’ tunes in London in the early eighties. Those tracks that have a real fusion of styles, tons of zest, swing & energy, raucous brass and frantic percussion, with a DJ now playing them to dancers, this truly helped to re-contextualise the perception of Jazz that ultimately led to the ‘Acid Jazz’ explosion of the very late eighties and early 90’s and the roots of a movement that still exists to this day.

Latin Grooves and uplifting moods are the medicine! Paul is a DJ who holds the room simply with a cool calm approach and by putting the needle on the best slices of wax imaginable.

In recent times Paul launched his ‘Jazz Room’ record label to rediscover and re-release high quality Jazz-Dance, Jazz-Funk and Latin-Jazz records from across the ages. With top quality curation and artwork, it’s one of the best labels around for these kind of sounds!

Gilles Peterson himself says: ''Paul Murphy found almost every jazz dancefloor classic. He is the original messenger of jazz. He opened the door to an alternative way of being a DJ. The rest is history."

We think the Old Market Assembly is the perfect space to witness Paul’s selections so we welcome him to ‘Bongo Boogie’ with you and us.!

Joining him behind the decks for this one will be Worm Disco Club founders and 2/3rds of the ‘Worm Soundsystem’ Jake Worm and Nathan Worms playing worldwide cuts from their deep, varied and groove-tastic record bags.

On the night you can expect added treatment to the venue such as decor, visuals and general worminess to make the place sound & look ace alongside quality drinks & cocktails, and friendly staff. All the ingredients needed for a top night out!

The event starts at 10pm and runs until 2.30am!
