Les chansons de Edith Piaf at The Old Market Assembly

A gig held at The Old Market Assembly on Sunday 24th March. The event starts at 19:30.

The voice of Edith Piaf represents French popular culture at its most alluring. With uncomplicated yet beguiling tunes, and her simple stage presence, she was able to project a raw emotional honesty that is rarely to be found today. She was France’s most popular entertainer after the war, after which she toured internationally and achieved world renown.

Catherine Deas presents songs covering two decades of Piaf’s career, in an evening devoted to French popular music of her era. Catherine is a lead vocalist with Fantasy Orchestra Paris, and is now performing with Fantasy Orchestra Bristol during a sabbatical in the UK. Her supporting players have been recruited from the Fantasy Orchestra
