Fitting Our Poetry Into Corsets: Writing in Forms
An online webinar workshop led by Malika Booker.
As poets we often sit at the desk to write poems, feeling the pressure to create that finished draft. Yet the desk can be a place for experiment, play and practice.
The first part of this guided webinar workshop will explore different exercises and strategies you can use to develop your craft. The second part will explore forms, including new forms (like the Golden Shovel and the duplex) and traditional forms (like the ghazal) to experience the freedom and possibility that constriction can enable.
Join Malika Booker for this quick fire guide through writing techniques and forms. Come prepared to write and have fun, as we loosen and tighten our poetic corset strings.
This is a Zoom Webinar workshop. Participants will be guided through talks and writing exercises, and be able to interact with the facilitator through the chat box.
