This workshop will look at the creative act of rendering an existing text in a new language, and the multiplicity of possible texts it produces. We will consider ways to identify the core of a poem, how it can be moved into another language - and how that can inform our own writing. Open to anyone regardless of linguistic ability.

Bohdan Piasecki is a poet, translator, and creative producer from Poland based in Birmingham with an interest in multilingual writing. He founded the first poetry slam in Poland in 2003, before moving to the UK to pursue a doctorate in translation studies. He is Visiting Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham. Bohdan also works as Creative Producer and sits on the board of the Poetry Translation Centre. (Photo Credit: Tyrone Lewis)
