Whether you’re heading to the Fringe (and need to hone that final draft!) or just getting started, this fun, intensive, supportive 4 week class (Monday evenings - 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd June) is for stand-up comedians and solo theatre makers at any level. We’ll generate tons of material, polish existing material, and drill down into structure for a one hour shows. This class is a supportive way to take your comedy writing to the next level and fill you with confidence. We’ll also interrogate the pitfalls and joys of using personal material and will ensure participants feel safe and supported.
The course is run by experienced comedian, writer and tutor Amy Mason, Chortle Breakthrough Act nominee (Free Mason , Behold!)
Amy’s most recent show was one of the best reviewed of Edinburgh Fringe (British Comedy Guide) and her tv projects have been in development with BBC Studios, Clerkenwell and Hat Trick. Amy’s run writing workshops across the UK for 15 years and she has trained with Soho Theatre and Central School of Speech and Drama. As well as two acclaimed stand-up hours, Amy has made three solo theatre shows all produced by Bristol Old Vic. Amy has an MPhil in writing and her novel The Other Ida won the Dundee International Book Prize, and she’s particularly good at helping people tell stories and hone structure. Amy has appeared on Radio 4, Radio 1, and multiple times on Radio 6, as well as writing for The News Quiz, The Now Show, and Hypothetical.
