About Millie Wood-Downie

Millie Wood-Downie (she/her) is a queer, award-winning artist/producer and co-founder of The Project People. Created in 2023, The Project People are on a mission to share our flexible, transparent and mindful approach to producing creative projects. A process we have fused through our combined 17 years of experience producing everything from theatre, drag, cabaret, festivals, workshops and events. Everything we do is financially viable and mindful for both artist and producer, with transparency and openness - something we were both looking for as we started life as self-producing artists and continue to make our own work. The Project People is more than a producing house or artist development organisation. We are advocates for independent creative freelancers, providing a space for support with non-tokenistic wellbeing embedded in our practice, whilst making amazing projects happen! Past work includes HIGH STEAKS co-produced with ELOINA & Beth Sitek (New Diorama, Bristol Old Vic), GISELLE:REMIX (Pleasance Theatre) and Fool's Moon Cabaret (Soho Theatre).
