TWO MEN, ONE MISSION
APPEALING TO THE SOULS OF BRITIAN
THROUGH THE SOLES OF OUR FEET
Pilgrimage4Palestine originated in 2025. In an extraordinary show of empathy and resistance, Peter Oswald, South West poet and playwright, walked 150 miles from Bristol to London Parliament Square while fasting for Ramadan. He was accompanied by Nick Bilbrough, founder of the Hands Up Project www.handsupproject.org which connects children around the world with young people in Palestine.
The aim is to combat racism, raise awareness of the ongoing genocide in Palestine, raise funds for The Hands Up Project, and challenge the rising tide of anti-muslim hate in the UK.
This year Pilgrimage4Palestine2026 starts on 28th February in Capileira in the Alpujarra Mountins in Spain walking 50 kilometres over a week to Granada, the medieval Muslim capital of Spain. It then moves to the UK with a launch evening on Friday 6th March at the Palestine Museum in Bristol with poetry, and performance. The Pilgrimage then departs for London at 10am on Saturday 7th March leaving from St Marks Road in Easton, Bristol supported by other walkers and cyclists.
Over sixteen days, along the route, they will be met by local campaign groups and politicians. Oswald and Bilbrough will also be connecting with local schools, and will run evening fund-raising events performing poetry by Palestinian children - some of whom have been killed by Israel. They will also be welcomed by Mosques for Iftar to break their fast each evening and to connect with local Muslim communities.
The pilgrimage arrives in London on Sunday 22nd March to a reception in Parliament Square. In the evening it celebrates its completion with an event in the Marylebone Theatre in London.
The pilgrimage last year raised well over £18,000 and aims to raise more this year for the project
