on Thursday 19th August. The event starts at 20:30.
London-based three-piece PENGSHUi will be filling the room with their unique blend of rock and metal, screams and raps, live bass and drums, in an intense mix of aggro vocals and a slamming rhythm section. Mimi Barks is giving the evening some big support as she delivers a dark and gritty sound over which she rolls her rap and screaming blend of vocals to direct her acrimony with fierce conviction, alongside co-founder of The Banana Sessions and head honcho of Grrrl Crush, Discobobulator, bringing punk anthems, rap bangers and grimey beats.
PENGSHUi
PENGSHUi are the London-based three-piece of Illaman (vocals), Fatty (bassist) and Prav (drums), who have worked with some of the hottest names in hip-hop and bass music including Foreign Beggars, Flux Pavilion and Goldie, but grew up as fans of rock and metal. Now they're mixing these two worlds with screams and raps, with live bass and drums, in an intense mix of aggro vocals and a slamming rhythm section.
Mimi Barks
Mimi Barks - it’s in the name. The genre-mashing gateway-artist is kicking Trap Metal to the next level.
Originally a Berlin native, Barks relocated to London in 2019 where she now writes and co-produces her music. Coming off the back of her debut EP success Enter The Void and 6 Single Releases, Mimi Barks will launch a highly anticipated new album in 2021 to mark the next chapter of her journey.
Her sound is MMA Fights and Formula One, blending those harsh trap beats with breakdowns and outright nu metal riffs and adding her trademark ferocious and raspy vocals. Both energising and ruthlessly uncompromising, Barks delivers a dark and gritty sound over which she rolls her rap and screaming blend of vocals to direct her acrimony with fierce conviction.
It’s like Keith Flint and Marilyn Manson had a baby that’s dead-set on killing you, but all it’s armed with is a pummelling beat and raw and repeated wails of “Back the fuck off!”... This is Doom Trap.
Discobobulator
Co-founder of The Banana Sessions and head honcho of Grrrl Crush - championing women, non binary and LGBTQ+ people in music and beyond - Discobobulator has blazed the festival trail across the UK and Europe, from the Edinburgh Fringe to Glastonbury; DJed for Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon & Baga Chipz (Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK); and has done a bunch of online raves since the beginning of the pandemic, including a collaboration with KT Tunstall.
