The Co-operators & Friends + DJ Set from Ian Upset at The Plough Inn

A gig held at The Plough Inn on Thursday 12th March. The event starts at 21:00.

This is a benefit gig for Bristol Defendant Solidarity so please give generously on the door. (Flyer by Lily Brett)

The Co-operators started as a studio project in Manchester in 2015 slowly finding their sound through a mutual love of the Jamaican music of 60’s/70’s and early 80’s.

After the studio moved to Bristol in 2017 and work began on their debut album ‘Rhythms From The Kitchen Sink’ pressure mounted from fans and those involved in the project to put together a live band to compliment the studio outfit. Finding their feet in Bristol’s fertile ground that has been an important home for reggae music since it’s inception The Co-operators are now taking to the stage LIVE & DIRECT playing their own brand of handcrafted reggae music.

About BDS:

Bristol defendant Solidarity started after the 2011 Stokes Croft riots
in Bristol. We saw the need to stand in solidarity with all those
arrested and facing revenge and punishment from the authorities.

Since then we have been involved in offering practical and legal support
for many people facing charges from participation in left wing
demonstrations, direct action and resisting squat evictions.

BDS sends respect and solidarity to all those awaiting trial, in court
or in prison for resisting and for fighting for a better world. We want
them to know they are not alone and certainly not forgotten.

We will continue to support anyone targetted by the police, arrested or
imprisoned as a result of demos, riots, direct action and escalating
class war.

The support and solidarity we can offer includes:

- Court preparation and accompaniment
- Fundraising for legal and court travel costs
- Help finding the best solicitors
- support accessing useful legal information
- Distributing "bust cards" / "Know your rights" info at demonstrations
- Giving legal information workshops
