Prince Of Wales New Years Eve at Prince Of Wales
£10 +BF from Bristol Ticket Shop

A gig on New Years Eve. The event starts at 20:00.

This New Year we are sticking with our simple winning formula. One great local band, one amazing local DJ, a simple fun theme to give you an excuse to wear fancy dress, amazing drinks and of course your wonderful company.

Our band, World Government, are an improvising funky dance band from here in Bristol. Organised by guitarist Chris Powell, the band line-up draws on a large pool of talented professional musicians, and like the best afrobeat and funk bands, everyone is in the rhythm section.

What makes people dance? It's the groove! Which is why so many top drummers are part of the World Government story, including: Ian Mathews (Kasabian), Clive Deamer (Radiohead, Portishead, Get The Blessing, Robert Plant), Errol Flynn (The Moonflowers), Daisy Palmer (Goldfrapp).

Other stellar musicians include: Ian Perry, Dave Johnston (Chair Fight), James Gardiner Bateman (Joss Stone, Michael Kiwanuka), James Morton(The Herbaliser, Pee Wee Ellis, Pork Chop).

This is playtime for musicians, it draws upon a world of dance music influences, creating a direct link with the audience drawing them into the performance, and intrinsically adapts to the particular crowd. They are hot from a summer of performances, including Glastonbury to name just one.

Our DJ, despite recently moving north to Liverpool, is very much a local star. You may have seen him with Tremor Soundsystem, Luv'd up, I Love House Music and he was a resident at No 51 in Stokes Croft. Making music during the day and mixing music during the night. We don't doubt he will keep the party alive into the early hours of the morning.

With a theme of funky disco you have the perfect excuse to get glammed up and funky. So come dressed to impress.

Tickets available from PoW and Bristol Ticket Shop.
