A event held at PRSC on Friday 1st May. The event starts at 19:30.
WINNER: Best Comedy Format 2026 for South West & Wales (Chortle awards)
Celebrate May Day with the multi-award-winning The People’s Comedy. As we mark International Workers' Day, we return to our roots: honouring the historic struggle for labor rights through the lens of modern counter-culture comedy.
Historically, International Workers' Day emerged from the fight for the eight-hour workday and the fair treatment of those who keep the world turning. At The People’s Comedy, we carry that torch into the arts. Since 2018, we have challenged the "gig economy" of the comedy circuit by ensuring every act is paid fairly and equally. We don’t believe in hierarchies—no headliners, just a collective of powerful, original voices.
For this night, handpicked comedians include:
Caitlin Powell✅(finalist LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year)
Yoky Yu✅(PsychoSomatic Therapist & Rapper)
Alex Farrow ✅ (Award winning stand-up Comedy director)
Yovan Chamroo ✅ ( big belly comedy)
Fathiya Saleh ✅ (as seen Dua Lipa’s ‘Service 95’ magazine as one of “5 new faces to know bringing a fresh perspective to the comedy scene”
Bróccán Tyzack-Carlin ✅ (co-founder: poetry and comedy for Palestine)
Sam Michael MC ✅ ("Local Comedy Legend"-BBC Radio)
WHY THE PEOPLE'S COMEDY?
The People's Comedy formed in 2018 with the aim of platforming comedians with a message (think counter-culture, underrepresented, original) and ensuring that they're paid for their craft. On top of that, no headliners showcasing each act's unique comedic voice.
There is a bar which opens the same time as doors, from 7pm.
The show starts at 7:30pm, so please arrive comfortably before then. Come join us on our journey.
