Good Friday is a day of deep reflection on the sacrifice of Jesus—a man who stood for peace, justice, and radical love.

​While the day is solemn, we often overlook the humanity of the "Man of Sorrows." Did Jesus laugh? While the Bible doesn't explicitly record a "haha," theologians point to his mastery of wit. From the absurdity of a man with a log in his eye to the hilariously vivid image of someone swallowing a whole camel while straining a gnat, Jesus used hyperbole to expose hypocrisy. Even nicknaming the impetuous Simon "Rocky" (Peter) suggests a sense of affectionate irony.

​We believe that humour, when used to speak truth to power, is a vital part of the human spirit. This Good Friday, The People’s Comedy invites you to a special evening of laughs, stories, and social commentary that—much like the parables—actually mean something. Note, Vinny can't make it so we have the viral much loved and blessed Greg Winfield.

WHY THE PEOPLE'S COMEDY?
The People's Comedy formed in 2018 with the aim of platforming comedians with a message (think counter-culture, underrepresented, original) and ensuring that they're paid for their craft. On top of that, no headliners showcasing each act's unique comedic voice.

There is a bar which opens the same time as doors, from 7pm.
The show starts at 7:30pm, so please arrive comfortably before then. Come join us on our journey.
