"The most enthralling slice of cultural / political commentary in recent memory lands at PRSC: a Cold War spy-thriller with Louis Armstrong and the CIA pitched against Max Roach, Patrice Lumumba and Malcolm X. Soundtrack to a Coup D'etat is a post-bop, post-colonial cinematic happening, its toe-tapping montages of sound and image showcasing jazz as cultural resistance. Unmissable!"

A collaboration between the People's Republic of Stokes Crofts 'School of Activism' and the PRALER Fund, marking the unveiling of a mural for Afrikan Liberation Day
In the film, Jazz and decolonisation are entwined in this historical rollercoaster that rewrites the Cold War episode that led musicians Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach to crash the U.N security council in protest against the murder of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. Crackling with energy and verve, this masterful film takes history and creates an audacious musical documentary.
This year marks the centenaries of both Patrice Lumumba and Malcolm X, and we need to commemorate their legacies by building solidarity and protecting the decolonial movements and leaders of today, such as those in the Sahel region in West Afrika.
The film will be followed by a discussion and we will be raising contributions for the PRALER Fund (https://www.praler.net/praler-fund), a grassroots effort led by Global South Communities of Resistance that are restituting resources to strengthen the movement for decolonisation.
