Hypoeisis Presents: Iliachoborgymi Automata Puppet Show at PRSC

A event held at PRSC on Saturday 13th June. The event starts at 16:45.

Iliachoborgymi is an interactive sound and movement installation and performance piece, inviting audience members into a weird and wonderful alien realm populated by interactive soft robots and their otherworldly guide.

Iliachoborgymi exists as a strange, composite creature outside of normative time and space in the process of symbiogenesis.

Symbiogenesis, popularised by Lynn Margulis, is the theory that complex animal and plant cells are descended from bacteria-like cells symbiotically part digesting each other. Amidst the ephemerality of the performance setting, the installation extends the radical act of meeting and transformation involved in symbiogenesis, to each audience member. Guided and supported by a narrative spun by the performer, participants are encouraged to collaborate, play with, and be reconstituted by the automata’s strange world of mutating physical and sonic feedback.

In a space where everyone feels alien, how do we cultivate curiosity and care? What does it mean to build relationships beyond the structures of language, sensorial experience, and conceptualisations of the individual self? Iliachoborgymi invites us to ask these questions, exploring how we can come into connection through playful and collaborative storytelling, movement and sound.
