A
event
held at PRSC
on Tuesday 9th January. The event starts at 18:30.
(Tickets are pay-what-you-can with a suggested minimum donation of £3.00 in order to help cover venue costs. There are some limited free tickets as well for anyone who will struggle to contribute this.)
In this session, we will be discussing gender in relation to soldiering and war. In particular, we will consider why and how do gender, and women's bodies, become crucial terrains in war?
All welcome to come join the discussion, no special knowledge needed! If you want something to read for ideas, we suggest:
- Recent Al Jazeera article "For feminists, silence on Gaza is no longer an option" - https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2024/1/4/for-feminists-silence-on-gaza-is-no-longer-an-option
- A more academic article by Chris J Cuomo: "War Is Not Just an Event" - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QT3ndqXS-2hre0B50BWq736VmhYc11DR/view?usp=drive_link
Doors open at 18:00 for a 18:30 start.

What stance should socialists take when their country is involved in a war? How does the media twist perceptions of conflicts in order to garner support at home? Do foreign interventions ever achieve their stated goals? We will discuss these questions and many more across bi-weekly sessions at PRSC.
No need to have attended a previous session to take part in the next. All knowledge levels welcome, come along and get involved!
