Alpaca Presents
Erotic Secrets of Pompeii
+ John E Vistic + Cherry Chain
Erotic Secrets of Pompeii bring their hallucinogenic art rock to Rough Trade on Friday 17th October, to launch their new album Pitchfork Libra. A chaotic, catchy amalgamation of angular genres, dragged through the dirt and sprinkled in glitter.
Pitchfork Libra hosts a collection of songs that continues headstrong into ESOP's absurd, occult world – visiting twisted psychological locales from the feverish hysteria of the Dancing Plague of 1518 to the esoteric trials of Robert Anton Wilson’s Chapel Perilous.
Pitchfork Libra explores the eternal cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth – a serpent devouring its own tail. A baroque collision of the medieval and the futuristic.
ESOP's music has received airplay from BBC Radio 6, Radio X & BBC Introducing, and the band have played major festivals such as Boomtown, The Great Escape, Shambala & Bearded Theory, along with supporting Heavy Lungs, Joe & The Shit Boys, and Electric Six.
Their surreal, frenetic take on rock is like nothing else out there! Come and join in the cosmic tantrum!
John E Vistic:
Punk rock, but not as we know it. The future of rock n roll always smacks you square in the face when you least expect it. No prior knowledge whatsoever of John E Vistic but I am instantly grabbed in a chokehold by this provocative, shit-kicking set. They are hard to classify without straying away from the sheer fun of their output. Simply put, with a solid rocking rhythm section, bare-knuckle guitar lines, ear screeching saxophone solos and a frontman who can put any room in the palm of his hands, stop what you are doing and seek out John E Vistic and have a better life for it.
Cherry Chain:
‘Established in 2022, the rising Bristol-based five-piece have captured the hearts and minds of the Bristol underground scene with their enigmatic blend of woozy slowcore, abrasive post-punk and otherworldly dream pop.
After a slew of support slots spanning the likes of high profile DIY acts such as Nervus, The Deadnotes and BLED (fka DRAG), the band recently joined forces with friend and producer George Turner (Sun Spot, Adoring) to record their debut EP; Laikas Window, released in August 2023.
A new EP; Projector is rumoured to drop in 2025, with a fresh take on dirty pop.’
