The Book Club
+ Clemencie & Half Happy

Friday 26th April 2024
Rough Trade Bristol
Entry 16+

The Book Club consists of childhood best mates Em Price and Jake Hilton.

Based between Bristol and the West Midlands, the duo blend coming-of-age stories with nostalgic, melancholic indie pop sounds and a DIY ethos that has won the hearts of fans in their native UK and beyond.

The duo released their debut single ‘Pursuit Of Happiness’ in 2021 through PIAS, garnering immediate support from Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ playlist and Radio X. In 2022 The Book Club returned with ‘Ego Trip’, a glittering, dream-pop tinged banger, setting the band up for their debut EP ‘The Flowers Grow Tapes’ which is was released on 30th June 2023.

Running away with romantic tales of falling in and out of love, Clemencie, discuss coming of age and growing into your own skin. Synth pop meets indie rock, this 5 piece makes you want to dance around your bedroom and shout along to lyrics about an ex you never dated. Newly formed and UK based, Clemencie is lead by front woman Grace Bland (Grand Finalist of The Open Mic UK Competition 2020, held at The 02 in London). The sparkly indie pop newcomers are already turning heads, with the presale for their debut single release show selling out in just 3 hours.

Half Happy first glided into the Cardiff Music scene in 2022, immediately getting attention from BBC Introducing Adam Walton after the release of ‘Runaway Girl’. They bagged themselves Huw Stephens Artist of the Week and secured themselves a spot on Spotify’s ‘Hot New Bands’.

Half Happy have just been awarded the 2023 Triskel Award at the Welsh Music Prize. This award is given to the brightest, new, emerging artists of the year.
