Melin Melyn + Pys Melyn at Rough Trade Bristol

A gig held at Rough Trade Bristol on Friday 27th October. The event starts at 19:30.

Doors: 19:30
Curfew: 23:00
Age restriction: 14+ (U18's accompanied by an adult 18+)

Oozing seventies typography, sun-drenched melodies, and surf jangles, Melin Melyn present themselves - not so much round pegs in square holes as they are determined to throw the whole box out, blurring the line between folk, rock, pop and psychedelia. Their inspirations include Syd Barrett, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Kevin Ayers and they sing in both English and Welsh, (as seen on debut single Mwydryn). Their weird tales of colourful characters and magical worlds aren’t in fact that far removed from today’s off-kilter reality. It is eccentricity at its finest & paradoxically most accessible, and that has already seen them played on BBC Radio 6 Music on Marc Riley and Cerys Mathews’ shows and invited to play Green Man & End Of The Road Festival. Feast your ears to get some idea of the melodic zing they are capable of!
