ABOUT THE SHOW
Tonic features: Open Mic, Prompt-writing, Scratch Showcase of brand new material, Half-Time Scratch and a Headline Set. This show is headlined by spoken word wonder, Elizabeth McGeown. We're psyched to have her include Tonic as part of her UK tour and we know you'll love the power of her pen.
HEADLINER
Elizabeth McGeown is a Pushcart-nominated poet from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She has work published in journals including Banshee, Abridged and Under the Radar. She is the UK Slam Champion 2022 and was longlisted in the Saboteur Awards 2022 for ‘Best Spoken Word Performer’.
She won the Cúirt International Festival of Literature: Spoken Word Platform 2019 and the Cursed Murphy Spoken Word Prize 2019. She has performed at Electric Picnic, First Fortnight, Lingofest, Loud Poets and Sonnet Youth.
Her first poetry collection, Cockroach, was published by Verve Poetry Press in summer 2022. Cockroach is available here or you can buy a copy at the gig.
OPEN MIC
If you fancy getting on the Open Mic, you'll be invited to pop your name in the hat to be drawn at random. This is to increase inclusivity for those who can't make it to our venue for the very beginning of doors opening and to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to perform.
