Tonic 044: 1990s Chris at Rough Trade Bristol
See event details

A event held at Rough Trade Bristol on Thursday 5th January. The event starts at 19:00.

Ringing in the new year, Team Tonic has a proper corker lined up for January 2023! We love to celebrate music and spoken word talents in the South West and further afield.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Tonic features: Open Mic, Prompt-writing, Scratch Showcase of brand new material, Half-Time Scratch and a Headline Set. This show is headlined by spoken word hero and award-winning filmaker, 1990s Chris, for one of his final public performances before jetting off to Canada and we're both honoured to host him and desperately sad to see him leave our fair city – but we'll make it a hell of a send off!
HEADLINER
1990s Chris is a poet, writer and performer based in Bristol. Primarily Chris writes for film and performance as a conscious effort to make his writing more accessible to those who find traditional forms of literature alienating or unappealing.
His debut film was part of Channel 4’s Random Acts project, funded by the Arts Council, which premiered at Borderlines film festival.
Chris's work has featured on BBC, Channel 4, Fred Perry and many more. Among his accolades, his film, Factory Talk, won Best Artist Film at Aesthetica Short Film Festival.
OPEN MIC
If you fancy getting on the Open Mic, you'll be invited to pop your name in a hat to be drawn at random. This is to increase inclusivity for those who can't make it to our venue for the very beginning of doors opening and to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity.
