THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID at Rough Trade Bristol
fully accessible (support workers are comp) - £8/£5

A event held at Rough Trade Bristol on Tuesday 14th May. The event starts at 20:00.

Penny will read at ‘Thats What She Said’ on 14 May at Rough Trade

Author and poet Penny Pepper is a regular personality on telly, radio and in the press. Penny is a versatile and candid performer and brings the Naked Punk project to Bristol on Tuesday 14 May, to perform her signature mash-up of poems of anger, self-worth, nudity and activism - all delivered with her trademark humour, rage and compassion.

Penny says; “I’m delighted to return to Bristol, the home of Burning Eye Books, the lovely publishers who supported my debut poetry collection; ‘Come Home Alive’, which I will read from at the Rough Trade gig, as well as excerpts from my memoir, ‘First in the World Somewhere’. This will take the audience back to some of my rock and roll days; skirting the shadows of the North London music scene, the days of early Alan McGee, of meeting Ian Dury, fan mail from Robert Wyatt and a Christmas card from Morrissey. Not forgetting my burgeoning days as a disabled activist - a passion that has stayed with me all my life.”

Penny joins ‘Thats What She Said’ again after a knock-out show together at The Royal Albert Hall last December. The Bristol venue, Rough Trade in BS1 2QD is fully accessible. Support workers are eligible for a free ticket and entry prices are £8/£5 - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/thats-what-she-said-brs-feat-penny-pepper-tickets-59315239478?aff=efbeventtix

The Thats What She Said gig promoters, For Books’ Sake are full of anticipation; “As always, we'll be showcasing the best new writing and performance by womxn and non-binary writers, featuring iconic and emerging authors with a mix of performance, poetry, storytelling, slam and more. We are really excited to have Penny perform here” says host and DIY punk poet, Bridget Hart.
