Japanese Television
From the ashes of three garage rock bands rose Japanese Television; Al Brown, Alex Lawton, Ian Thorn and Tim David Jones - who formed with a shared vision of creating a modern psychedelic space-surf soundscape.
The band went into the studio with Kristian Bell (The Wytches) who artfully captured the raw spirit of their live performances to 8-track tape. The tracks make up their debut self-titled 2018 EP of the year (BBC 6 Music’s Gideon Coe and Amy Lame) and swiftly followed by EP II, which was named Best of 2019 by Marc Riley.
In 2020 the band has released an acid-soaked and gloriously catchy compilation of the two sold-out EPs with the addition of four Marc Riley 6 Music Session tracks via boundary-defying label Tip Top.. The two EPs were met with an overwhelmingly positive reception and their re-issue completes the impeccable full Japanese Television body of work to date including inspired ‘Best Music Video’ Buenos Aires International Film Festival nominated ‘Bruno's Nightmare’ written and directed by JTV drummer Al Brown (following his last music video ‘Never Fight A Man with a Perm’ for IDLES).
Having sold out London's Waiting Room, played multiple UK and EU shows and festivals including Left of The Dial, supported Dead Meadow, Yak, Snapped Ankles, and The KVB, in February 2020 Japanese Television completed their biggest UK headline tour to date with sell out shows in Brighton, London, and Nottingham.
Japanese Television release their anticipated debut album later in 2020.
