The RWA are excited to welcome Cleo Lake into the galleries as part of our ambitious program of events during our summer exhibition: Dance Out
Join dance animator Cleo Lake on a journey through Bristol Sound classics, from Trip Hop to Jungle Drum and Bass and some of the influences in between.
What can you expect?
Drawing on Cleo’s interest in folk dance and rave/club dance culture, each session will begin with a short breathing exercise and meditation, then Cleo will lead participants through an inclusive and fun dance warm up, teaching basic steps from her repertoire.
Each session will explore methods to create movement material, with what Cleo describes as ‘exaggerated pedestrian,’ to create individual dance phrases and excerpts towards new group dances to classic Bristol tunes. The sessions will close with freestyle dancing with a clubbing type feel
- a perfect way to unwind at the end of the week/month.
Who is this for?
Open to all levels, dancers and 'non dancers’ and to anyone who loves dancing in a social context. For those who wish to, there will also be a public sharing performance opportunity.
