CHRIS TAVERNER
Chris Tavener is the witty, satirical songwriter saying things that everybody thinks, but nobody says. Rock ‘n’ roll infused with comedy. Folk dipped in satire.
It’s like Peep Show set to music! If Jimmy Carr played guitar...he would be Chris Tavener.
“Comedic genius” - Pop Culture Pipebomb
Chris has been known to play as many as 350 gigs a year, making him one of the most hard-working singer-songwriters in the UK. He’s had endorsements from Carl Barat of The Libertines, Will Ferrell’s ‘Funny Or Die’, Paddy McGuinness, Jamie Lawson and Steve Lamacq of BBC 6 Music. Steve has played Chris’ tracks four times on national radio.
Originally from Northwich in Cheshire, Chris began writing and producing demo albums annually from age 17. He writes storytelling songs about the ironic comedy in everything from drunken romance, celebrity worship, football hooligans and small town problems. In the past year, Chris has performed at Glastonbury Festival, The Great Escape, Latitude Festival and The Edinburgh Fringe to name but a few.
In 2017, he recorded his first live album in two back-to-back, sold out shows at Manchester’s Three Minute Theatre. He followed that up with a national tour, which included dates supporting the likes of Peep Show’s Super Hans at Manchester Academy. His new album and DVD are set for release in early 2018.
