“In this 45 minute show Kid Carpet will guide you through everything you need to know to be able to rock out big time. Even if it’s your first gig! Join in with stories, games and songs. Audience participation is encouraged with parents and children both onstage and in the seats. Kid Carpet performs songs from his hit family shows (Kid Carpet & The Noisy Animals, Blast Off!, Noisy Neighbours and Noisy Nativity) while inviting the audience to play ping pong, help catch a lost sandwich in space and take part in a grand dance contest.”

“Join us for a screenwriting Q&A with screenwriters from television and film. They will talk about their work in the industry and how they got there. They will tell us where great ideas come from and who’s inspired them. Chaired by Ti Singh from the Bristol Bad Film Club we will explore the process of writing for television and film. What is a beat sheet? How do you ‘save the cat’? How do you raise funding for your film? How do you get your first break into the industry? How do you take rejection?”

“Formed in 2000 to share a fascination with the improvisation and monophonic nature of Ornette Coleman’s earlier works and throughout this time, the line-up has remained the same throughout with Portishead rhythm masters Jim Barr and Clive Deamer on bass and drums respectively, Pete Judge on trumpet and Jake McMurchie on saxophone. And all this despite other commitments for everyone, not least Deamer’s recruitment as Radiohead’s second live drummer in 2012. The band’s old friend and collaborator – and Portishead guitarist – Adrian Utley also makes the occasional guest appearance.”

“This workshop will give you the opportunity to learn how to make pastes, blend spices and balance flavours to create a range of great curries from around the world. You will learn how to make a fragrant Thai green vegetable curry, slow cook a Malaysian beef rendang and cook up a fiery pork vindaloo, all from scratch. We will also give you plenty of cooking hints and tips along the way to help advance your skills in the kitchen.”

“The story of UB40, and how this group of young friends from Birmingham transcended their working-class origins to become the world’s most successful reggae band is not the stuff of fairytales as might be imagined. The group’s led a charmed life in many respects it’s true, but it’s been a long haul since the days they’d meet up in the bars and clubs around Moseley, and some of them had to scrape by on less than £8 a week unemployment benefit. The choice was simple if you’d left school early. You could either work in one of the local factories, like Robin Campbell did, or scuffle along aimlessly whilst waiting for something else to happen.”
