About Wilful Amateur
Wilful Amateur presents a timely overview of Sian Bonnell’s practice from 1978 to the present. Arranged non-chronologically the book brings together early and later works into new correspondence. Essays by Aliki Braine, Sian Bonnell, Duncan Wooldridge, and a transcript of the artist in conversation with Susan Bright provide further fascinating insights into the work.
‘Prepare for an adventure, a journey which tracks back and forth through the absurd splendour of Sian Bonnell’s artistic life, a voyage that careers between the High Renaissance and Dada, linking Bellini with Duchamp. This book is a visual romp through 40 years of Sian’s creative endeavours which have relished the fusion of photography with painting, performance, sculpture and installation, each piece a balancing act just moments from tumbling out of control.’
