BODY LANGUAGE PRESENTS
Body Language are a dance collective that run open, integrative and somatic dance classes for people who want to explore movement in a creative, holistic and explorative way. These sessions aim to be inclusive to all abilities, ages and backgrounds. We aspire to help people celebrate and find expression through their most valuable and unique asset- the body.
Join us in the woods! Body Language return to Snuff Mills for the first in a series of some special gatherings this year. Set in a beloved neck of woods, we will lead another nature-inspired dance workshop. We will create elemental choreography, explore the somatic resources mother nature offers in abundance and tune into the movements, rhythms and music of the plant, animal and microbial worlds.
Responding to sound, sense, and movement of creatures and wildlife around us, we can explore realms of emotion and wisdom from growth and regeneration cycles. We will tune in to the resonance and rhythm of our surroundings and explore through creative exercises in embodiment.
Choreographer and dance therapist Lottie Ball and musician and performer Georgia Cusack will lead a workshop in elemental choreography and guide you in somatic engagements with the inhabitants of the landscape. We will explore inner landscapes through interplay with plants, creatures and processes of our fertile friends.
The chosen location has some uneven paths and requires some uphill walking. Unfortunately it may be inaccessible to people with physical disabilities but we will endeavour to hold our future workshops in accessible spaces. Please feel free to get in touch via our email [email protected] with any questions you have. Outdoor, all-weather attire and fun/expressive dress recommended! Bring snacks or a flask of something if you’d like to stay warm throughout. We will meet in the car park of Snuff Mills at 12.50 pm to allow us enough time to walk to the location together.
“We are all part of a bigger body, and that bigger body is nature herself. We are water, metal earth and air. By connecting with this larger body, we can find a life-giving support that is often neglected in our industrialized culture.” - Anna Halprin
