Behind the Eyes season kicks off with Jerzy Skolimowski’s Oscar-nominated film EO (2022), a mesmerising “love letter to the natural world” that follows a donkey on a strange and haphazard journey from a Polish circus into the forests, farms and cities of modern Europe.

With minimal dialogue, surreal cinematography and an outstanding soundtrack by Paweł Mykietyn, Skolimowski imagines the world through EO’s eyes, leaving us to wonder how non-human animals experience reality, and to reflect on our own relationship with nature.

The screening will be accompanied by an interactive exhibition exploring the hidden sensory worlds of dogs, cats, bees and elephants - inspired by scientific discoveries that have transformed our understanding of how other animals perceive the world around them.
