From the underground independent scene to large publications, LGBTQ+ lives and stories have been told in comics and zines for decades. Often censored by the mainstream media for not being “child friendly”, comics creators have shown time and again that LGBTQ+ stories can be for younger audiences as well as comics not just being for kids. Everyone has a story to tell. Why not give comics a go?
Join PrideCAF for an afternoon of exploration and collaboration. We'll first start with a brief history of comics, zines and the LGBTQ+ community before we jump into single and group exercises to get those pencils moving. The second half of the workshop will get you to start putting your ideas on paper with the freedom to socialise and collab with other creative people in a safe and non-judgmental space.
Materials will be provided as well as reference materials, guides and enthusiastic encouragement!
This is a pay what you can event and every penny donated goes back into running events like this!
