The Altered Festival - A Fringe Edition at Sparks Bristol
See event details

A event held at Sparks Bristol on Saturday 9th December. The event starts at 12:00.

With dedicated funding from Arts Council England, Sparks Bristol is proud to support some legendary Bristol-based artists, performers and collectives for a day of high energy and inspiration which is free to all - just drop by Sparks' Nature department!

We have //Kabbo Hue Qua Tura, a master storyteller, artivist and founder of The Altered Festival. Come and enjoy the wisdom found in indigenous Afrikan stories from //Kabbo's home of //Hui !Gaeb (Cape Town), Azania (South Afrika), brought to life through accompanying music and soundscapes.

Then there's Rav playing the mystical and beautiful Sarangi, a Traditional North Indian Fiddle

Filhos de Angola Bristol, a martial arts group, will also be leading a Capoeira Roda, where anyone is invited to take part in the celebration through singing, dancing and martial arts.

Alex Lindsay aka Yellow will be bringing us some amazing spoken word poetry alongside some friends and music.

Souls Liberation - whose DJ sets mix poetry, reggae, jazz and drums to create harmoniously eclectic energy-infused music with a message.

Bridging Histories is a collective with a vision to create a world where every person is celebrated for who they are, rooted in history and heritage, and empowered to be a changemaker.

And WIZ DXM doing some powerful Hip Hop and Grime.

Finally, you can even come and get a professional collodion portrait taken of yourself by Jarvis Jefferson - this is a vintage method almost 200 years old!

Entry requirements: no age restrictions
