A
event
on Sunday 8th February. The event starts at 11:00.
Come and Wander with us…
around the log fire, as we will be joined by local artist Ella Chedburn for February’s Art Club. Inspired by nature we will be gathering together for a cosy workshop playing with plants and words inside Springfield Allotment’s Roundhouse.
We’ll start by cutting up and arranging words to make short texts - these might be copied phrases, stories, memories, statements, poems etc. You can also draw or write your own words if you prefer.
Next, using a flatbed scanner we’ll scan these words alongside plants or objects to create our own digital collages. You can move things as they scan to create soft blurs, overlaps, glitches or fading effects. There’s no right or wrong way to do this, playfulness is encouraged. The scanning process is super quick, tactile and simple.
We'll have a loose 'imbolc' theme, which you're welcome to follow along with or do your own thing. Imbolc translates to “in the belly” - it's the time of incubation and germination, seeds growing quietly beneath the soil, readying for the new beginnings of Spring.
No experience or preparation needed. Welcome to bring words, objects or plants to scan, but we’ll also have plenty to use and get inspired by. Come solo or with friends. Tea and biscuits provided.
