On Friday 22nd March Bristol Poetry Festival welcomes esteemed publishers Nine Arches and Laureate's Choice for two fantastic readings from their recently published poets. Both take place at the lovely Waterstones book shop in the Galleries.

7:30pm-8:30pm

As Carol Ann Duffy’s tenure as UK Poet Laureate draws to a close, we celebrate her contribution to promoting poetry by inviting three of the poets she has identified as ‘ones to watch’ through the Laureate’s Choice programme to read for us. Featuring Greg Gilbert, Nichola Deane and Mark Pajak. Hosted by Tom Sastry.

9:00-10:00pm

This second event at Waterstones features readings from rising star Suzannah Evans and from Jo Bell, one of the UK’s leading poets and arguably its most influential poetry teacher. Both are exceptional readers. Suzannah and Jo are published by Nine Arches Press which in ten years has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its outputs. This will be a special evening.

5:30-7:00pm

Earlier in the evening, there will also be a fascinating discussion panel in collaboration with Tonic, taking place at The Square Club. The panel, chaired by Jo Bell, will ask 'what can page and spoken word poets can learn from each other?' Featuring Melanie Branton, Josephine Corcoran, Josie Alford and Stefan Mohamed.

Poets' collections will be available for sale and signing on the night.
