event
on Saturday 9th November. The event starts at 14:30.
An engaging, educational and fun activity for anyone wanting to learn how to build community resilience in the face of escalating climate and ecological disasters.
We're too late to prevent climate change but not too late to prevent the worst outcomes. Now is the time to prepare for what you will do in the next disaster. How will you protect your loved ones and neighbours in the next flood, storm or lockdown? Come play a lighthearted, choose-your-own-adventure game with serious and unsettling undertones. In groups, you will take on the role of various organisations around the city and imagine what you'll do the next time the world breaks down.
The game is designed and facilitated by Louis Delmege, and is based on real life experience of community responses to crisis. Louis has been working in food justice since 2016, most notably running the National Food Service network during the covid-19 lockdowns. They began the development of a food disaster risk plan in both Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and have been educating on the issue for the last two years.
The game will last for about 1.5 hours, after which there will be space to share what has been learnt from taking part, and to consider how to apply these learnings in our own communities. This section will be facilitated by Jay Wilkinson, an educator and facilitator with 20 years of experience in social change and community resilience projects.
Tickets are on a sliding scale basis:
£8.50 + 80p booking fee - Full price ticket (if you've got money to spare at the end of the month)
£4.50 + 50p booking fee - Discount ticket (if you've got some money to spare at the end of the month, but not a lot)
Free ticket (if you're struggling to cover your basic costs)
Please note: There are limited discount and free tickets available. If they were all discounted we couldn't afford to run the event. If you need a discounted or free ticket and they are sold out, please get in touch.
Accessibility: The organizers are very sorry to say that the venue isn't fully accessible for wheelchair users (there is a ramp to enter the hall, but there is no accessible toilet). We are currently on a very limited budget for venue hire, but are committed to running the game again in the new year in a fully accessible venue. If you would like to take part in the new year, please get in touch.
