I am inspired to hold a space to teach some of my favourite Medicine Songs. Songs that I have sung for many years, that are very dear to my heart. They are sacred songs that you might know from medicine circles that are mostly connected to various spiritual movements of Afro-Latin-America, but also some that are rooted in other traditions from around the world. Most of the songs will be in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, some will be in English and other languages.

I will print song sheets so we can learn all the lyrics, and explain the meanings of the songs. This will include a translation of the lyrics as well as a broader look into the roots of what the songs mean and where they come from. You are welcome to bring musical instruments and I will show some simple ways to play along.

I hope this will provide a valuable opportunity for those who want to learn more about these precious ways, and to deepen into the profound beauty and magic these songs carry. Once we have learned the songs we will sing them with our hearts open to the prayers and power they hold.

I intend to share these songs with integrity and respect to the cultures they come from, always in acknowledgement and gratitude to them.

You are welcome to bring musical instruments if you feel confident to play along.

Please remember to bring a cushion or something similar to sit on as we will be sitting on the floor, chairs are available for those who need or prefer one. Bring a pen and paper if you want to make any notes.
